Dr Saifurr ehman
From a father’s unfinished dream to a humanitarian network
A Journey That Began with a Father’s Dream
An important journey in the life of Dr Saifurr ehman began when his father established a small manufacturing factory with the aim of producing herbal medicines.
This was not merely a business venture; it was his father’s dream—a dream of bringing traditional herbal knowledge to people in the form of useful medicines.
However, within a few years, circumstances changed, and the factory reached the verge of closure.
At that time, Dr Saifurr ehman was only 16–17 years old.
At an age when most young people are thinking about their studies and future, he faced the possibility of watching a dream started by his father come to an end.
He did not see the factory merely as a failing business. To him, it represented his father’s hard work, hope, and unfinished dream.
He decided that he would not allow this dream to end that way.
Taking Responsibility at the Age of 16–17
Despite his young age and limited business experience, Dr Saifurr ehman took responsibility for the factory and began working to rebuild it.
The journey was not easy.
Understanding production, working on formulations, maintaining quality, understanding market needs, and exploring new possibilities in herbal medicine gradually became part of his learning and work.
Over time, the small unit that had been on the verge of closure began to establish a new identity.
Through his efforts, production expanded, and gradually more than 50 types of herbal medicines began to be prepared there, including tablets, capsules, syrups, medicinal oils, and various herbal combinations.
However, this expansion raised another important question before him.
From Herbal Medicine to Medical Science
While working on medicine production and developing new formulations, Dr Saifurr ehman realized that preparing medicines alone was not enough.
If he wanted to bring real innovation to herbal medicine, it was also necessary to understand—
- QUESTION IHow does the human body work?
- QUESTION IIWhy do diseases occur?
- QUESTION IIIHow do medicines affect the body?
- QUESTION IVAnd how can a patient truly be guided toward better health?
This curiosity drew him toward Medical Science.
He pursued education related to medical science, systematically studied the human body, diseases, and treatment, and eventually began working as a physician.
Thus, his medical education was not a separate path from his herbal journey; rather, it was a natural extension of that journey.
Herbal medicine taught him how to make medicines, while medical science gave him the perspective to understand the person for whom those medicines were being made.
Another Question — Is Our Education Truly Educating Children?
Alongside health, another subject had troubled him for a long time—education.
The education system he had experienced himself never seemed completely satisfactory to him. He believed that education should not merely be a means of moving a child to the next grade; it should enable the child to understand, think, and recognize their own potential.
His concern deepened when he observed children from poor families.
Many children had been attending school for years but were still behind in basic studies. Some could not even write their names properly. Despite having studied at school for several years, some could not even state the name of their own school.
Instead of merely discussing the problem, Dr Saifurr ehman decided to conduct a small experiment.
It Began with Just Two Children
He started a small educational center near his home.
The plan was not very ambitious—
Just two children and two excellent teachers for them.
The idea was simply to see how much change could be brought into the lives of children in need if they were provided with quality education, individual attention, and the right environment.
However, society responded to this small initiative in an unexpected way.
Within approximately one year, the effort that began with two children reached nearly 125 children. In view of the growing number of children, a team of five to six teachers had to be formed.
And then the results began to appear.
Children who had once struggled with basic studies began progressing rapidly after receiving proper guidance and quality education.
Over time, the children associated with this educational initiative achieved scores of 97% and 98%.
For Dr Saifurr ehman, these were not merely good marks.
These children revealed a much greater truth to him—
“Many times, the deficiency is not in a child’s talent; it lies in the opportunity and system made available to that child.”
This Is Where Social Service Became a Mission
The transformation seen in these children became an important turning point in Dr Saifurr ehman’s life.
He realized that if a small effort begun with only two children could reach so many children and families, then organized and responsible social work could influence the lives of many more people.
This was where the idea of giving human service an institutional form became stronger.
In 2018, he founded North India Helpers Foundation. Later, this social mission was developed toward North India Human Welfare Foundation (NIHWF) Global, with a broader vision, structure, and scope of work.
After this, his social journey continued to expand.
What began with education gradually extended to healthcare, assistance for families in need, women’s and children’s welfare, youth empowerment, social awareness, community service, and other humanitarian fields.
Different Paths, but One Purpose
At first glance, Dr Saifurr ehman’s journey appears to include several different fields—
But to him, these are not separate careers.
They are all connected by one question—
“How can the knowledge, experience, and resources we possess be used to improve someone’s life?”
This way of thinking also defines him as a Generalist.
He believes that today’s complex social and health-related problems cannot be understood within the limits of a single field.
It is necessary to view health in connection with education, education with opportunity, opportunity with self-reliance, and social welfare with technology, awareness, and responsible leadership.
NIHWF Global — The Next Chapter of This Journey
Today, Dr Saifurr ehman does not see NIHWF Global merely as an NGO.
His vision is to develop it into a humanitarian network where doctors, teachers, advocates, technical experts, social workers, young people, volunteers, and responsible citizens can come together with their respective abilities for a shared purpose.
His own life has taught him an important lesson—
Change does not always begin with great resources.
- Sometimes it begins with the decision of a 16–17-year-old to save his father’s unfinished dream.
- Sometimes it begins with an effort to provide better education to just two children.
- And sometimes that small effort eventually begins touching the lives of hundreds of people.
Founder's Vision
My journey has never been limited to a single profession. Business taught me responsibility, herbal medicine gave me the mindset of innovation, medicine helped me understand people, education showed me the power of opportunity, and social service taught me that even a small effort can transform someone’s entire life. For me, NIHWF Global is an effort to bring all these experiences together in the service of humanity.”
In Dr Saifurr ehman’s view, the true success of an organization is not determined by its building, positions, or fame.
It is determined by what changes in a person’s life because of it.
A purpose greater than the individual.
Responsibility greater than business.
Service greater than success.
And human impact greater than identity.
